Sweet November

On deadline today, so this is a quickie.

We had one of those November rains that strips away most of the remaining leaves from the trees, leaving them more or less bare. I used to hate it when this happened, but now I can see it as just another thing, just as fine as when the leaves were full.

The sky looks very wide and clear.

Besides, I have this photo. I was sitting on the couch playing with some wool roving I got at Rhinebeck last month, and realized the colors not only matched the couch itself, but went awfully well with the socks I had on (a gift from a friend). I was just pulling the camera out of my pocket when my Better Half came in with his hands full of leaves he’d scooped up off the sidewalk and rained them down on me:

Socks, locks, and leaves. Sweet November, indeed.
